Jessup students host Buddy Lunch for new students

Jessup Elementary's Student 2 Student (JS2S) Club recently hosted a Buddy Lunch to welcome students who are new to Jessup this school year.

JS2S is a student-led, peer-to-peer program that connects students from both military and civilian families while promoting leadership, academics, service, positive school culture, relationships and 100% acceptance.

New students, especially those from military families, often have difficulties adjusting to a new school environment and finding friends. Student 2 Student and other similar programs help students adapt more easily and make fast friends with others.

As a Purple Star School, Jessup has shown a commitment to its military-connected students and their families, too. The school has set up collection boxes at various locations around the community for donations to deployed service members. Staff members and students also wear RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) bracelets every Friday.
