Student of the Week
May 11—Thayne Nett
Thayne Nett, a senior at East High School, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of May 11.
Nett was selected for his kindness, generosity, and positive attitude. He is known for being accepting of all people and for creating a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment at school–both inside and outside the classroom.
He maintains a high GPA while taking rigorous coursework and staying involved in a variety of school and community activities.
Nett is a member of the National Honor Society, Best Buddies and Anchored for Life. He serves as a qualified math tutor and is a member of the East golf team. In addition, he has served on the Pink Ribbon and Firecracker Run committees.
Following graduation, Nett will attend the University of Wyoming, where he plans to major in architectural engineering, combining his interests in math, science and art.
Nett selected Heather Tyrell as his favorite teacher for her encouragement and lasting impact on his academic journey. He credits her with inspiring him to pursue an engineering career and forhelping him see math as an engaging, problem-solving challenge.
Board Employee Spotlight
April—Nicholas Lamp
Nicholas Lamp, associate principal at Central High, has been selected for the Board Employee Spotlight for the month of April. He will be recognized on Monday, April 20 at 6 p.m. in the Storey Gym Boardroom, 2811 House Ave.
Lamp has been a dedicated LCSD1 employee since August 2014.
According to his nomination form, Lamp is known for his dedication and commitment to students and colleagues. He fosters a student-centered environment built on trust, respect and high expectations.
Lamp goes above and beyond to ensure all students are supported in academics, activities, and athletics and approaches his work with a collaborative and selfless mindset. He is recognized for his outstanding communication skills and genuine care for the school community.
“Mr. Lamp has cultivated strong and positive relationships with his fellow administrators, staff, students and families,” Central Principal Dr. Karen Delbridge said. “He takes great pride in his work and is deeply invested in the success and well-being of others.”
