The first day of the 2026–2027 school year was full of many smiling faces. Here are some from Baggs Elementary and Arp Elementary.

Sunrise Elementary hosts color run

Sunrise Elementary kicked off the year with their annual color run.

Prairie Wind hosts Kindergarten Welcome Breakfast

Kindergarten students at Prairie Wind Elementary explored their new classrooms and schedule with their families, and all were treated to breakfast!

Arp Elementary opens time capsule

Arp Elementary recently opened a time capsule from 1976.

The time capsule was stored in an ammunition box and was intended to be opened 50 years after it was sealed. Students from each class had contributed items to the capsule. 

The treasures stored in the capsule included magazines and publications that were relevant at the time, stories and drawings from students and staff, toys, letters to the future, cassette tapes and more. 

Arp Elementary is creating a new time capsule, which will be complete in November and set to be opened in 2076.

Parent Updates

A flyer for the LCSD1 Surplus Sale on September 10 from 7:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at 316 Lexington Ave.
Laramie County School District 1 will hold a surplus sale on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 7:30 a.m.–3 p.m. at the LCSD1 Warehouse, 316 Lexington Ave.

Tables, chairs and other miscellaneous items will be available for purchase. All items will be sold as-is.
 

LCSD1 immunization deadline approaching

The deadline for Laramie County School District 1 students to receive their required immunizations is Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026.

Immunizations are required by state law. Students not meeting this requirement will be excluded from school starting Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026. Parents/guardians will be contacted to pick up their child and take them for the necessary immunizations. Students may return to school immediately after receiving vaccines. 

Immunizations are available at local healthcare providers and Cheyenne-Laramie County Public Health.

Cheyenne Schools Foundation to host 2026 Run for #1

The Cheyenne Schools Foundation will be hosting their annual Run for #1 5K walk/run Saturday, Sept. 19 at Central High School. 

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. in the Commons Area and the race begins at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $30 for adults and $15 for students. 

Those interested in participating in the 5K can register by visiting www.raceentry.com and searching ‘Cheyenne Schools;’ or www.cheyenneschoolsfoundation.org and clicking on “Register.” Registration can also be completed the day of the race.

All funds raised will be given as grants to Laramie County School District educators. Additionally, schools earn $3 per adult and $1 per student registration, and the school at each level with the most funds raised and the highest participation rate can receive a $500 award.
