Deming Elementary hosts Legacy event

Teachers, students, alumni and community members gathered to honor Deming Elementary during the school's Legacy event. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and a special thank you to LCSD1 Trustee and former Deming teacher, Barb Cook, for speaking during the event!

Junior Achievement visits Triumph High

Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain visited Triumph High and brought their Dream Accelerator experience. This interactive and responsive career exploration activity helps students prepare for a meaningful career and future.

Triumph student Trinity Munoz said that the experience was valuable because she was able to see actual numbers and costs for things like cars and other essential items.

Bryce Ramsey's fourth grade class at Anderson Elementary has been raising rainbow trout in their classroom this semester. Recently, they released the trout into Sloans Lake at Lions Park with assistance from Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Ramon Andrade, Assistant Head Custodian at Carey Junior High, is recognized for the May Board Employee Spotlight.

Ramon Andrade receives May Board Employee Spotlight

Ramon Andrade, the assistant head custodian at Carey Junior High, has been selected for the Board Employee Spotlight for the month of May.

Andrade has been a Laramie County School District 1 (LCSD1) employee for 38 years. He is known for leadership and dedication, ensuring facilities are safe, clean and welcoming to students and staff every day.

During the 2023-2024 school year, Andrade was selected as the LSCD1 District Support Person of the Year.

“His exceptional work ethic, technical expertise, and ability to lead and mentor others have earned him widespread respect,” Custodial Services Supervisor Michael Kimmel said.

 

Alta Vista Elementary named a 2026 National Gold Star School

Alta Vista Elementary was recently named a 2026 National Gold Star School by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), a national recognition honoring schools that demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation and dedication to student success.

Alta Vista is one of 57 schools in the nation to receive this recognition in the award’s inaugural year. Congratulations!

LCSD1 holds RIDE Celebration of Learning Event

LCSD1 held a Celebration of Learning event for the fifth cohort of Gov. Mark Gordon's RIDE initiative. Teachers and students presented their projects and shared why performance assessments are beneficial.

East High School rolls out the blue carpet

East High rolled out the blue carpet for the school's first Nestpys, an awards ceremony celebrating T-Bird athletes, teams and coaches for their incredible accomplishments achieved throughout this year.

LCSD1 feedback through community survey

Parents/guardians and community members,

There is still time to fill out the annual LCSD1 Community Feedback Survey. This survey provides LCSD1 with valuable feedback and information to inform areas of success and areas that may need additional focus for improvement.


The survey will be open until May 22, 2026. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses.

  • 5 p.m., South High School

To accommodate picture opportunities for family and friends, each high school campus will be open immediately following graduation.

Summer Food Service Program begins in June

Please see the revised dates for our Summer Food Service Program.

South High
Monday-Thursday
June 15-July 16
Breakfast: 8:15-8:45 a.m.

LCCC
Monday-Friday
June 8-Aug. 7
Lunch: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Meals will not be available on July 3 and 22.

The meals, which are free for anyone 18 years old and under, will be provided at South High School and Laramie County Community College, parking lot E. Meals must be eaten on site. Grab-and-go meals will not be provided.

Board of Trustees meeting

The next Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Monday, June 1 at 6 p.m. A work session will be held at 5:30 p.m. The meeting can be attended in person or via Zoom.
