October 12—Genesis Thornton

Genesis Thornton, a seventh grade student at Johnson Junior High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 12.
Thornton was selected for her kindness, positive attitude and commitment to her school community. She is helpful and attentive in the classroom, staying organized and consistently keeping up with her assignments.
“Genesis truly represents what it means to be a Firebird and serves as an excellent example for others to follow,” Johnson Assistant Principal Valerie Bahige said.
Thornton participates in cross country, cheerleading and band, where she plays the alto saxophone.
Thornton selected Jennifer Voyles as her favorite teacher because Voyles believes in her students, encourages creativity and shows patience in the classroom.
